Bus Rider Regulations
Policies for Students Riding School Buses
- Be at the bus pick-up on time. Be ready to load!
- Students should not stand in the roadway while waiting on the bus. BUT...SHOULD BE BESIDE THE ROAD & READY!
- Obey the bus driver’s instructions at all times.
- Stay in your seat and face the front of the bus.
- Keep hands, feet, and all other objects to yourself AND inside the bus.
- Keep your voice at a safe level. No yelling across the bus to other passengers.
- No food or candy is to be eaten on the school bus. No milk, or any other drinks allowed...with the exception of water... NO Sonic style drink containers will be allowed. Absolutely no soft-drink cans or bottles will be allowed. WATER ONLY! This rule has been amended as a courtesy for hot weather.
- Put trash in the trash can.
- Students will be held accountable for any destruction of school bus property. You will have an assigned seat. Take care of YOUR seat at all times. The bus driver has the autonomy to re-assign seats at any time.
- Obscene and unacceptable language, gestures, remarks, signs, or drawings will not be tolerated and will result in school discipline.
- Students must remain on the school bus once boarding, unless another teacher or the school bus driver grants special permission.
- No skateboards, large toys, large band instruments, and extra duffel bags with ball bats etc. are allowed on the school bus. If you can’t let it ride in your lap then it is too big to bring on the bus.
- If a student is to board or leave the bus at a place other than his/her normal school-bus stop, they are to have an official school note issued by the school office.
- School Bus drivers will not transport any person not regularly assigned to the bus without an official school note. Phone text messages and/or phone calls will not be accepted.
- In the event of misconduct on the school bus, the bus driver will complete a “School Disciplinary Referral and Bus Discipline will follow the student handbook.
Some infractions shall result in an automatic suspension...those include but are not limited to:
- Fighting...which includes hitting, spitting on, shoving, etc.
- Includes BOTH parties...may not seem fair, but if a passenger fights back, as in defending
- themselves...they too shall be suspended.
- Disrespect toward the school bus driver absolutely will not be tolerated. A simple “Yes
- Sir/Ma’am”, “I’m sorry sir/ma’am” etc goes a long way in avoiding suspension.
- Bullying in any form shall be an automatic bus suspension
- Do NOT take it upon yourself to be an advocate for another student. Mind your own business!
A school bus suspension of privileges includes
- Transfer transportation
- Vo-Tech and all extracurricular transportation activities.
Administration has the autonomy to reduce or accelerate any consequences of discipline depending upon the infraction and circumstances.
